A beloved and very talented member of the blues community has left us. "Killer" Ray Allison, whose terrific drumming sparked Alligator Records releases by Koko Taylor, James Cotton, Carey Bell and Buddy Guy, died suddenly last week at the age of 60. Ray was a warm, friendly, larger-than-life guy with a ready smile and a nice word for everyone. Working with him on recording sessions was always a pleasure; he always brought 110% of his talent and energy. In recent years, Ray had switched to guitar and was leading his own bands and had developed a loyal fan base.
